about me

Hello! I'm Mark Elliott, a passionate visual creator in Chicago, Illinois. Excitingly, I will be making my home in sunny San Diego by the summer of 2025! This website serves as a showcase for my artistic portfolio, where I specialize in crafting compelling media. My work is dedicated to conveying meaning and purpose across various worlds, including heartfelt family memories, the dynamic world of musicians, engaging commercial projects, and beyond.

I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Tulsa County. My grandfather was a photography enthusiast, and I often asked for disposable cameras for my birthday to capture photographs of the barn, cows, and the Oklahoma skies. Before the era of YouTube, my sister and I made short films, editing everything in-camera with whatever camcorder we could find. After she earned a degree in Film & Video Studies, I followed her path by studying Fine Arts with a focus on Performance Art and 16mm Film at the University of Oklahoma.

I began my career in 2013 as a videographer and editor for Scissortail Media, based in Norman, Oklahoma. The following year, I became the head of video at Atria Creative. I focused on providing photography and videography services for weddings, small businesses, and music production alongside Old Blood Noise Endeavors, a guitar pedal company.

In the winter of '17, I started d.b.a. Rabbit House Productions in Oklahoma City. My work included international travel, capturing content for non-profits, creating social media content for Capital City Barbershop, and video editing for Flower Moxie, a DIY wedding florist. Two years later, my wife was accepted into a Ph.D. program at the University of Chicago, so we moved north!

We arrived in Chicago just a couple of months before the pandemic. Despite the challenges, I secured a full-time job with 4Front Ventures in the emerging cannabis industry of Illinois, where I photographed products and created a wide range of branding and social content.

In the summer of '23, a decade into my career, I returned to freelancing to create media that combines artistry and practicality. When I'm not working behind cameras or computers, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two cats, watching tv while playing Scrabble. We love going to the beach and enjoying the fresh air while admiring the view. Another big hobby of mine is listening to music, and although I'm no expert, I like to spend time playing the guitar.

I appreciate you taking the time to visit my website. Contact me if you have any questions, want to schedule a session, or just talk shop!
